# Controlling the Display of a Layer or Layer Group

Two tools allow you to manage how layers and layer groups are displayed:

* One tool lets you **turn the display on or off** for a layer or group on the map.
* The other allows you to **enable or disable the visibility settings** configured for the layer or group. These settings are described in detail in the [Properties](/en/jmap-cloud-portal/user-guide-for-jmap-cloud-portal/configuring-project-data/configuring-a-layer/layer-properties.md) section.

**To access these functions**:

1. Hover over the desired layer or group to reveal the action icons.
2. Click the ![](/files/gp7jghGlMbn7DypgVGsn) or ![](/files/sdJPb9B13AqIuH5sGFNo) to **turn the display on or off** for the layer or group.
3. Click the ![](/files/uZyrWddk8Avn2AQ2HEBH) or ![](/files/8pBBBjjfUhVS4c3z7Mi8) to **enable or disable** the application of **visibility settings** n the project layer configuration.
