# Setting the Layer Order in the Layers Panel (Studio and JMap NG)

The order of layers and layer groups in the **Layers** panel in Studio and JMap NG is intended to improve the user experience, especially for projects with a large number of layers.

**To reorder layers and layer groups in the panel:**

1. Hover over the layer or group to move until the drag icon <img src="https://3291879974-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F9n1KCuTyIKwSpZcPcC6l%2Fuploads%2FK3iGy3axDyTEsCT4JYPI%2Fstudio-ordre.png?alt=media&amp;token=850ce445-6c5e-47b9-84d4-4bee5e28c430" alt="" data-size="line"> appears.
2. Click <img src="https://3291879974-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F9n1KCuTyIKwSpZcPcC6l%2Fuploads%2FK3iGy3axDyTEsCT4JYPI%2Fstudio-ordre.png?alt=media&amp;token=850ce445-6c5e-47b9-84d4-4bee5e28c430" alt="" data-size="line"> then drag the layer or group to the desired position and drop it.

The map remains unchanged, but the **Layers** panel reflects the new order.
