# Removing a Data Source

**To delete a data source:**

1. Select the **Delete** option from the DS menu.
2. A confirmation message will appear, listing any map layers or project tables that use this data source.
3. Click **OK** to confirm and delete the data source.

The original data file used to create the DS is **not deleted**. It will remain available in the **Files** tab for **10 days**, after which it will be automatically removed from JMap Cloud.
