# Geographic Extent

To display the geographic extent of a layer, even if it is not visible on the map:

1. The map automatically zooms to the layer’s geographic extent. A rectangle outlining the extent briefly appears.
2. Click the Back icon <img src="https://3291879974-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F9n1KCuTyIKwSpZcPcC6l%2Fuploads%2FlvauECjDLlX16bXJCP3n%2Fretour.png?alt=media&#x26;token=84864456-a841-40c2-8dcc-eb7e49240ed3" alt="" data-size="line"> to return to the previous geographic extent.
