# Making Layer Features Selectable
To use certain functions such as interactive selection, you must first make the layer's features selectable.
1. Hover over the layer card to display the selection icon 
.
2. Click to make the features selectable. The icon 
is permanently displayed on the card.
3. Click again to make the features non-selectable. The icon disappears.
