You can then examine the attributes of the selected features and export the information in various formats. The interactive selection tools are located in the **Selection** panel. To select features, you must first make the features of the layers you are interested in selectable. See the [Making Layer Features Selectable](/en/jmap-ng/jmap-ng-user-guide/data/data-layers/making-layer-features-selectable.md) section. ## The Selection Panel This panel contains the selection tools available in the application. 1. Click to open the **Selection** panel. The icon changes color .
2. Select the tool of your choice by clicking on it. The tool icon changes color. The [Selection Tools](#selection-tools) section details their characteristics and how to use them. 3. Select features on the map. Features from all selectable layers can be selected simultaneously. 4. Hold down ⌘ or **CTRL** to add features to your selection, using the same tool or a different one. The selection help indicates the procedure for adding or removing features from the selection. The [Selection Results](#selection-results) section describes in detail the tools available for working with selected features. ## Selection Tools Several tools are available for selecting features:

Point selection

Selects one feature at a time by clicking on it.

  1. Click a feature to select it.
  2. Hold ⌘ or CTRL and click another feature to add it to the selection.
  3. Hold ⌘ or CTRL and click a selected feature to remove it from the selection.

As you select features, their information is displayed in the Selection panel.

Line selection

Selects features by drawing a line. All features crossed by the line are selected.

Note: This option does not work with point layers.

  1. Click once to indicate the beginning of the line.
  2. Drag the cursor to draw the line.
  3. Double-click or press the Spacebar to finish the line.

If you draw a new line, the features selected with the first line are deselected.
The information of the selected features is displayed in the Selection panel.

Circle selection

Selects features by drawing a circle. All features entirely or partially included in the circle are selected.

  1. Click once to establish the center of the circle.
  2. Drag the cursor to determine the radius of the circle.
  3. Click again or press the Spacebar to finish the circle.

If you draw a new circle, the features selected with the first circle are deselected.
The information of the selected features is displayed in the Selection panel.

Rectangular selection

Selects features by drawing a rectangle. All features entirely or partially included in the rectangle are selected.

  1. Click once to establish one vertex (corner) of the rectangle.
  2. Drag the cursor to define the rectangle.
  3. Click a second time to establish the opposite vertex of the rectangle.

If you draw a new rectangle, the features selected with the first rectangle are deselected.
The information of the selected features is displayed in the Selection panel.

Polygon selection

Selects features by drawing a polygon. All features entirely or partially included in the polygon are selected.

  1. Click to establish the first vertex (corner) of the polygon.
  2. Click to establish the subsequent vertices of the polygon.
  3. Double-click or press the Spacebar to finish the polygon.

If you draw a new polygon, the features selected with the first polygon are deselected.
The information of the selected features is displayed in the Selection panel.

## Selection Results The results are displayed in the **Selection** panel and on the map. Selected features remain selected until they are deselected or the layer is made non-selectable.
#Description
1Selected features are highlighted in yellow on the map. If you click on a feature while the point selection tool is active, that feature remains selected and the other features are deselected.
2This legend indicates the number of selected features and the number of layers involved.

Layer

Select the layer whose selected feature cards you want to display. The name of each layer is accompanied by the number of selected features.

Available tools

Tools are available for working with the selected features of the layer you indicated in the Layer field.

Feature cards

For each selected feature, a card displays the attribute values.

Selection help

Help for selecting features on the map. If you use this method, the features selected with the search are deselected.

### Available Tools Depending on the layer type: * **Zoom to selection**: Centers the map on all selected features in the layer. If the scale changes, the layer may no longer be visible. * **Open attribute table**: Opens a table displaying the attribute data of the selected features. The [Attribute Table](#attribute-table) section presents the table details. * **Export to Excel**: Downloads an Excel file containing the attributes of the selected features. * **Deselect layer features**: The selected features from other layers remain selected. ### Feature Cards For each selected feature, a card displays its attribute values. In each card you can: * Navigate between selected features. * Click a card to center the map on the feature * Return to the previous view. * Maximize or minimize the card. * Edit the feature (if you have permissions). The [Editing Data](/en/jmap-ng/jmap-ng-user-guide/fonctions/editing-data.md) section provides more details. * Deselect the feature. The other features remain selected. ### Attribute Table The attribute table displays the attribute values of the selected features in tabular format. Features are presented in rows and attributes in columns.
* Click to close the table. The features remain selected. * Click to open the table in a new tab. The table disappears from the tab displaying the map. * Close the tab to return to the table displayed with the map. #### Sorting features You can sort features based on the values of a given attribute: 1. Hover over the column header corresponding to the attribute you want to use for sorting. An arrow appears next to the attribute name. 2. Click to sort features in ascending order based on their value for the attribute. 3. Click again to reverse the order. The arrow changes and features are sorted in descending order. #### Navigating between features You can also use the attribute table to navigate between selected features: 1. Click a feature's row in the table. The map centers on the feature. 2. Click to return to the previous view.
