# Add Annotations to the Map

You can add annotations such as drawings or text to the map. Annotations can be saved along with the map when exporting to PDF.

The **Annotations** panel contains all drawing tools available in the application.

To open the panel, click the **Annotations** button <img src="/files/mkttp0OaLRrCwaNTEv76" alt="" data-size="line">. The icon changes color <img src="/files/hE8feQGXR4QWrYVZ8R8X" alt="" data-size="line">.

## Using the Annotations Panel

1. Click the desired drawing tool to activate it. See the [Drawing Tools](#drawing-tools-1) section for details.
2. Create the desired drawings. You can switch tools to create different types of annotations. Drawings remain visible until you delete them.

The panel includes:

* Drawing tools for different types of annotations
* **Select** button – Select annotations
* **Delete** button – Delete selected annotations
* **Fill** settings (color and transparency)
* **Line** settings (thickness, color, transparency)
* **Text** settings (size, rotation, color)
* **Snap** option
* Available layers for snapping
* Annotation help

## Annotation Style

### Fill

This section defines the color and transparency of points, circles, rectangles, and polygons.

You can define the fill color using:

* Visual color selector (color bar and color field)
* Hexadecimal code (Hex)
* RGB values
* Opacity percentage

A color history displays recently used colours.

### Line

This section defines the appearance of lines and outlines of circles, polygons, rectangles, and points.

Options include:

* Line thickness
* Color (via visual selector, Hex, or RGB)
* Opacity percentage
* Color history

### Text

This section defines text appearance.

* Font size
* Rotation angle

## Modify Annotations

You can modify the shape, appearance, position, or rotation of annotations, or delete them.

You can modify the shape of one drawing at a time. You can modify the appearance, location, or delete multiple annotations simultaneously (text and drawings must be modified separately).

### Modify Appearance

1. Click **Select**.
2. Click a drawing or text to select it.
3. Hold the SHIFT key to select additional annotations of the same type.
4. Use the **Fill**, **Line**, or **Text** tools to modify the appearance.
5. Click elsewhere on the map to deselect.

### Modify Shape (Drawings Only)

1. Click **Select**.
2. Click a drawing to select it. Its vertices appear.
3. Click a vertex to select it.
4. Drag the vertex to modify the shape.
5. Click elsewhere to finish.

### Move Annotations

#### Move Text

1. Click **Select**.
2. Click a text annotation.
3. Drag it using the hand cursor.
4. Release to drop it.
5. Click elsewhere to deselect.

#### Move Drawings

1. Click **Select**.
2. Click a drawing.
3. Hold the SHIFT key to add other drawings.
4. Drag the selected drawings to a new location.
5. Click elsewhere to deselect.

### Rotate Annotations

You can rotate either a selection of drawings or a selection of text (not both together).

1. Click **Select**.
2. Select the drawings or text annotations.
3. Hold the SHIFT key to add more.
4. Click **Rotate**.
5. Enter a rotation angle (between -360° and +360°).
6. Click **OK**.

### Delete Annotations

1. Click **Select**.
2. Select the annotations to delete.
3. Hold the SHIFT key to select multiple annotations of the same type.
4. Click **Delete**. The button indicates the number of selected annotations.
